BackCanadian delegation of the Ministry of Community and Correctional Services visits the RoA Police Educational Complex
15 March 2016 – Delegation of the Ministry of Community and Correctional Services of Ontario, Canada, paid a visit to the RoA Police Educational Complex, headed by Matthew Torigian, who is of Armenian descent. The Delegation was also comprised of Assistant Deputy Minister Stephen Beckett and Special Counsel and Advisor to the Deputy Minister Ryan Teschner. The visit aimed at getting familiarized with the activities of the Educational Complex with a view to seeking areas of future cooperation.
The delegates were shown the premises of the Educational Complex, laid flowers at the memorial to police officers who died in the line of duty. They were in the shooting range as well where they had the opportunity to shoot Makarov. Then Lieutenant-general Hovhannes Varyan, Head of the RoA Police Educational Complex, accompanied the guests to the museum of the Educational Complex were they got acquainted with the exhibits testifying to a long history of the Armenian police.
During the meeting with Lieutenant-general Varyan, the delegates were provided detailed information on the academic programs as well as training courses designed for acting police officers offered by the Police Educational Complex. Issues of potential cooperation between the Ontario Police College and the RoA Police Educational Complex were also discussed.
