MUSICAL AND CULTURAL TOUR TO THE UK

The annual event of the English Club functioning at the Chair of Languages of the Police Educational Complex of RA took place at the conference hall of the Educational Complex on June 28th, 2017. The event, entitled “Musical and Cultural Tour to the UK”, was devoted to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The event was hosted by the managerial staff of the Police Educational Complex under the leadership of the Deputy Head, Police Colonel Tigran Yesayan, heads of chairs and departments, as well as lecturers, cadets and other guests.

During the event the cadets came up with speeches representing the geographical location, traditions, customs, emblems, art, culture, literature and folk clothes of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Furthermore, the cadets recited the poem “The Hills” by Scottish Writer Robert Burns, presented Irish words of wisdom and their Armenian equivalents, sang the song “Yesterday”, danced Rock and roll which appeared in the 1950s and is famous all over the world up to now. Then the cadets demonstrated the traditional tea drinking ceremony representing the origin of “FIVE O’CLOCK TEA TIME”.  In addition, the cadets performed the balcony scene from “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare accompanied on live violin cover of the tragedy soundtrack. 

At the end of the event the Deputy Head of the Police Educational Complex, Police Colonel Tigran Yesayan noted the importance of creating permanent set of values in the cadets’ mentality and giving insight into the world culture. He extended his gratitude to the organizers highly appreciating the event. On behalf of the Head of the Police Educational Complex, Police Lieutenant General Hovhannes Varyan, Police Colonel Tigran Yesayan awarded certificates to all the participants and wished them success. The cadets also thanked the lecturers for improving their English knowledge and forming their world outlook.
