Summary։ In the scientific literature, the concept "legal bases of criminalistic support of crime investigation" is interpreted in different ways. The different interpretation of the legal bases of criminalistic support suggests that the process of forming this definition has not yet been completed.
The author defines the legal bases of criminalistic support for the investigation of crimes as a set of legal norms that allow for the effective, qualitative, optimal and rational collection, fixation, seizure, investigation of criminally significant information and its use to solve the tasks of criminal proceedings.
In the near future, the legal bases for criminalistic (expert) support of crime investigation will be supplemented by the law "On Forensic Expert activity", which will be of fundamental importance, since it will regulate the legal provisions of expert organizations and experts, legal and organizational issues of forensic expert activity. The results of the author's research indicate the presence of gaps in some provisions of the draft law "On Forensic Expert activity". In order to eliminate regulatory gaps, the author proposes to rename the specified bill into the law "On Expert activity", to include in the concept of expert activity the issues of organization of expertise in the administrative processes, staffing, using the example of scientific and methodological support comment on the content of staffing in the "Basic concepts used in the Law".
Keywords: criminalistic support of crime investigation, legal bases.
